Choptank Chillers Brave the Polar Bear Plunge

Everyone was praying for warmer temperatures as the week came to a wintry close on Saturday, January 26, 2013.  It didn't matter that we had just had the coldest week of the year -  The Choptank Chillers were ready!  With the Chesapeake Bay water temperature hovering around the 35 degree mark and the winds predicted to pick up in the afternoon, everyone was excited.  It was the Polar Bear Plunge weekend, a winter event that Choptank Transport looks forward to and has participated in for the last three consecutive years.

Snow was falling and the roads were slippery last Friday night but that didn't deter the members of the Caroline Chamber of Commerce from holding its annual awards dinner at the Preston Fire Hall.  Attendance was surprising uneffected with over 140 business men and women braving the weather to honor those recipients of the annual awards.

To the many of us who are somewhat health conscious, we have always been told that we should watch our “carbs” in order to lose (or gain) weight, and in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.   We are told that totally eliminating carbs is a bad idea; too many carbs can result in weight gain; and some kinds of carbs are actually far better than others.  In this realm, we are speaking of “carbs” as in carbohydrates.
