Choptank Transport launches third expansion

DSC_0028Choptank Transport, a nationwide third-party logistics (3PL) company headquartered in Preston, Maryland, is pleased to announce its third expansion in eight years.

Incorporated in 2000, Choptank Transport first expanded its office space in 2007, adding 5,600 square feet on to the existing A.W. Sisk & Sons building.

In 2011, when many companies were still trying to recover from the recession of ‘08, business was booming at Choptank Transport -- so much so that the company once again needed to create even more office space to accommodate a growing customer base. This second expansion was much larger, adding 9,000 square feet, with 120 new sales and logistics seats. As freight and logistics outsourcing became a more popular and more practical solution for both large and small companies, it didn’t take long for Choptank to fill the building with new employees. Watch our video. Once again, the 3PL found itself in need of additional space.

So, this spring, the company is breaking ground for an 11,000 square-foot addition that will mirror its 2011 counterpart. This will mean an additional 130 sales and logistics positions available in Preston, Maryland while the company’s outside offices also continue to grow. The company is already looking to fill positions and applicants can apply online here.   “My thanks go out to our phenomenal employees, customers and carriers that have made our growth possible,” says Geoff Turner, President and CEO, at Choptank Transport.   “I’d also like to acknowledge the willingness of state and local officials to assist in helping Choptank grow.”

If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” — Ferris.  The iconic picture of these two looking at the Ferrari careening down the hill might describe the shock you are feeling as the market pivoted sharply this past month.  Of course, it depends on which side you are on as to whether you have a smile or a frown!  Just as “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” enjoys a resurgence after 30 years we are reminded, once again, of how things are cyclical and we should be anything but shocked by the market’s volatility.

Here is a brief market overview and report on all the factors driving the current market, our expectations for where it’s headed, and most importantly, how to manage this market and come out on top!
