The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has just announced its 2014-2015 Choptank Transport Scholarship award winner. This is the third year that Choptank’s scholarship has been given to a student at the University of Maryland’s business school.
This year’s recipient, Carley Scott, is from Salisbury, Maryland, and is a current junior at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business. Scott has a clear plan for her future. When asked about her career goals, she explains, “My aptitude in science and math combined with my interest in business has led me to pursue degrees in Operations Management and Information Systems, complemented by a minor in Computer Science. My technical background will allow me to tackle today’s business issues with a unique approach.”
She is also very grateful for the opportunity to receive the scholarship. “I am honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the Choptank Transport Business Scholarship. Choptank’s generosity has helped me get one step closer to achieving my goal of a successful business career. I hope in the future I will be able to offer the same support to an ambitious student as you have given to me.”
Steve Covey, Executive Vice President at Choptank Transport, commented, “The speed of change in supply chain technology and development has placed a high value on quality education before entering into the logistics profession. As a leader in the 3PL world, it is our duty to help foster the next generation of logistic leaders. We wish Carley the best of luck in her educational pursuits.”
The annual scholarship requires students to reapply every year, and is available for students pursuing any business major. The application process begins in mid-March (spring break) through the last week of classes in early May.
