Choptank Transport 10 Better Than Par Charity Golf Tournament

Choptank Transport and ten local charities celebrated the success of Choptank’s first charity golf tournament, 10 Better Than Par, on September 28, 2019, by hosting a luncheon at the company’s headquarters in Preston, Maryland. In addition to the ten charities, the first, second, and third-place winners of the helicopter ball drop were in attendance along with many of the employee volunteers that made the tournament possible.

President and CEO Geoff Turner presented each recipient with a check for two-thousand dollars, explaining how each charity had a significance to the tri-county area and Choptank Transport.

“Our goal was to raise ten thousand dollars so that we could give each charity a thousand dollars,” said Turner. “We doubled our goal, which means it raises the bar for next year’s tournament.” At the end of the luncheon, Turner announced a tentative date of September 26, 2020 for next year’s event.

Turner also acknowledged committee heads Matt Andrew and Kim Bogac, as well as the more than thirty Choptank Transport employee volunteers, for their hard work and determination in putting the event together.

The charities chosen included Operation We Care, Food for Learning, Compass Regional Hospice, Character Counts Mid-Shore, Bonnie Hilghman Cancer Fund, Preston Volunteer Fire Department, Easton Volunteer Fire Department, Caroline County Recreation and Parks, Lifetime Wells, and Talbot County Parks and Recreation.

Choptank has been a strong advocate of giving back to its community since its inception in 2000. The company participates in dozens of local fundraisers, volunteer opportunities, and philanthropic events annually through its Choptank Transport Community Foundation and community involvement committee.

“We look forward to supporting our  community again next year,” continued Turner. “Our focus will remain on education, food insecurity, veterans, and other human services.”

Choptank Transport, a nationwide third-party logistics company, continues to grow in Preston and its regional locations, including Baltimore, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, and Tampa. Promoting employees from within is indicative of the company’s culture and is a large part of its success.
