Choptank Transport is pleased to announce it has awarded $24,000 to 18 qualifying employees through the company's 2020 student loan paydown program, and a total of $87,000 since initiating the perk three years ago.
When launched in 2017, student loan paydown benefits were a rare and unusual offering. Even today, finding employers who provide this kind of program is like finding a black cat in a coal mine. According to a 2018 survey done by the Society of Human Resource Management, only 4 percent of the nation's workforce offered the benefit.
