Choptank Transport Distributes $24,000 in Student Loan Paydown Benefits

Choptank Transport is pleased to announce it has awarded $24,000 to 18 qualifying employees through the company's 2020 student loan paydown program, and a total of $87,000 since initiating the perk three years ago.

When launched in 2017, student loan paydown benefits were a rare and unusual offering.  Even today, finding employers who provide this kind of program is like finding a black cat in a coal mine. According to a 2018 survey done by the Society of Human Resource Management, only 4 percent of the nation's workforce offered the benefit.

Choptank Transport Helps Deliver Meals to Children and Seniors

It’s a familiar sight on local roads—the grey Ford Transit, affectionally known as “the Chopvan.” It’s Choptank Transport’s goodwill ambassador on wheels, and during the COVID-19 crisis, it has come to the rescue, joining the fleet of vehicles delivering meals to local children and elderly stuck at home during the pandemic.

When the pandemic forced the closing of schools in mid-March, Caroline County Public Schools (CCPS) remained committed to providing healthy meals for its students. The delivery of these meals has continued through the summer meal program and has expanded to include local seniors in need.

Choptank Transport Donates Food During COVID-19 Crisis

Choptank Transport, a nationally recognized, full-service logistics provider headquartered in Preston, Maryland, donated more than 1,500 meals to seniors and families in need in Talbot and Caroline counties this week.

Area charities received cases of family-sized frozen lasagna dinners and canned salmon to distribute to local members of the community who have been hit especially hard during the COVID-19 crisis. These donations from Choptank were distributed to St. Vincent de Paul in Easton, Hurlock Methodist Church, Food for Learning in Denton, and the Neighborhood Service Center in Easton.

Adshead Joins Choptank Transport through Youth Apprenticeship Program

PRESTON, MD – January 27, 2020, Choptank Transport is pleased to announce the addition of Skye Adshead to the company’s Preston, Maryland, headquarters.  Adshead is the first high school student hired at Choptank through Youth Apprenticeship - Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP), a Department of Labor initiative that requires employers to apply and receive state approval.  Choptank was approved on January 15, 2020, and hired its first apprentice on January 24, 2020.

Bergling Promoted to VP of Technology at Choptank Transport

Preston, MD – January 6, 2020,  Choptank Transport, a third-party logistics provider headquartered in Preston, Maryland, is pleased to announce the promotion of Josh Bergling to Vice President of Technology.

Bergling joined Choptank in 2013 after graduating from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science degree in information systems.
